Will I Be Convicted Under Jessica's Law?
In 2006, Kansas implemented Jessica's Law. Modeled after a case in Florida, this law gives people a mandatory life sentence convicted of any sexual crime against a child who is 14 years or younger. Kansas' version of this law can be unfairly applied to every person, regardless of the degree of the crime. For instance, the law does not take into account the type of inappropriate touching that took place or whether the activity was consensual.
We defend clients who facing charges, including:
- Soliciting a minor
- Child pornography
- Child sexual abuse, including aggravated indecent liberties or indecent liberties with a child
- Child molestation
- Statutory rape
With over 20 years of criminal defense experience, our attorneys understand the law and know how it should be applied. We defend our clients against unfair charges by carefully navigating the legal system and avoiding pot holes.
