Will I Be Convicted Under Jessica's Law?

In 2006, Kansas implemented Jessica's Law. Modeled after a case in Florida, this law gives people a mandatory life sentence convicted of any sexual crime against a child who is 14 years or younger.  Kansas' version of this law can be unfairly applied to every person, regardless of the degree of the crime. For instance, the law does not take into account the type of inappropriate touching that took place or whether the activity was consensual.
